Many schools wish to display a list of staff on their website. We have added the Simple Staff List Plugin as it allows a lot of customisation options such as the ability to show photos, job titles, contact details as well as allowing staff to be added to specific groups.

Before you being to use the plugin you will need to switch it on. Within your WordPress dashboard navigate to Plugins>Installed Plugins. Then look down the list of available plugins for Simple Staff List. Click the activate link and you should now see an option in your dashboard labelled “Staff Members

There are a number of options available off the Staff Members menu but the best place to start is the “Groups” option. This allows you to prepare groups that your staff members may belong too. The screenshot below shows a group called Senior Leadership Team that has been created as well as details being added for a group called “ADMIN STAFF

Once your Groups are added you can now begin to add users and assign them to groups. Click on the “Add New” button to add a new user to your staff list you will be presented with the screen below which gives you the option to add the following:

  • A Users Name
  • A Users Photo
  • Role/Position
  • Email Address
  • Phone Number
  • Social Media Pages
  • Bio

One you have filled out the correct details you can assign a user to the groups they belong to by checking the boxes on the right hand side of the page under the heading “Groups“. A User can belong to more than one group so they can appear in more than one list and you only need to add them to the app one time. Once all the details are filled in click Publish and the user will be added to the database.

You can view all your members of staff that you have added to the database by click on the “All Staff Members” option in the menu. From here you can add, delete and edit users from your database.

Once you are ready to add a staff list to a page/post you can follow the instructions/guide from the Usage option in the plugin menu or you can modify the following short code by adding the slug that belongs to one of the groups you created. In the example below the group is set to the Senior Leadership Team. Simply paste this into a page/post and your staff list should appear.
