School admins are able to change passwords in two different ways, either by directly changing the password or by resetting it to the school’s default. There are also different ways to create new users and set their passwords at that point.
The table describes the outcome on password and the ‘force user to change their password on next login’ feature when the action in the Action column is carried out. Any action will override the previous action, so the last action taken will be the final state. So, in the case that a new user is created then an admin edits the password before the user logs in, the admin specified password will be set and the user will not be required to change their password when they next log in.
Note: This only applies to realsmart users, admins, mentors, governors and learners.
Parents using smartparents have a different system. See this guide
